Classic Brownies

Brownie time!

Normally, I'm no stranger to brownies from a box. Actually, I usually prefer them from a box. They're super fast and easy and most perfectly fudgy. But it was a special occasion, so brownies from scratch!

These were deliciously fudgy, but it you like brownies more cake-like, bake or mix them for a tad longer.
Recipe (adapted from ATK)

1 stick butter
3 oz unsweetened chocolate, chopped coarse
2/3 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
1 cup sugar
2 lg eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup pecan/walnuts (optional)

Preheat to 350 degrees. Line an 8 in square baking pan with foil sling and grease foil.
Melt butter and chocolate together in the microwave, stirring often. Let mixture cool slightly.
Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt.
In large bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
Whisk in melted chocolate mixture until combined.
Stir in flour mixture until just incorporated.

Scrape batter into prepared pan, bake 22-27 minutes.
