Pepperoni Bread

Wow. I thought it was bad that I forgot about the Pumpkin Bars, but actually...I also forgot about this Pepperoni Bread.

My memory is getting worse each day...this bodes well for the future.
I could probably eat pizza for the rest of my life. Or I could eat pepperoni bread. Basically the same awesomeness in slightly different form.

This was perfect for P's daily pizza cravings.

In other news, my restriction-free spotify time is almost over. womp womp.

Sighh. All good things must come to an end.

It'll be pretty upsetting once I have to find another outlet for music! Suggestions are welcome!

But back to the pepperoni bread. The recipe is very simple, and even more so if you use pre-made pizza or bread dough!

Recipe
1 loaf of frozen bread dough (I used the recipe for this pizza dough)
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 1/2 tbsp Italian seasoning
1/2 package pepperoni
mozzarella cheese
1 egg lightly beaten

Thaw bread dough and allow it to rise until doubled, 2-3 hours.
Punch down dough and preheat oven to 350 degrees.
On lightly greased large baking sheet, roll dough into approx. 12x18 rectangle.
Brush dough with olive oil and sprinkle with seasoning.
Layer with pepperoni to 1/2 inch from edges.
Top with how much cheese you would like.
Begin with the longest edge and roll dough into a thin cylinder.
Seal the seam and place the dough, seam side down onto the sheet.
Glaze with the beaten egg.

Bake for 35 minutes or until golden brown. Cut to serve.

Em and I are hooked on PBS. Yup... PBS.

There's Downton Abbey, but also the rest of the Masterpiece Theater. And then there's America's Test Kitchen! Random crazy documentaries! Then Em started watching Antiques Roadshow.

And have you heard of This Old House?  Here are two clips from Late Night With Jimmy Fallon with the crew that are hilarious.

  2. [1] I saw a similar recipe for Stromboli in one of the Cook's Illustrated seasonal issues! I always wanted to try it. Was it fantastic? I wonder if this recipe would work with sourdough bread.
[2] Womp womp I'm sorry your Spotify subscription is expiring. My very unhelpful suggestion is...Spotify Unlimited. I know, I know.
    [3] Jimmy Fallon is amazing!
[4] I can testify that Em & M's love for PBS (or as I like to call it sometimes, WGBH. That makes it sound fancier and less Dragon Tales, doesn't it?) is contagious. . (NERD ALERT) Count me as exposed, infected, and now a permanent carrier.

  3. Good lord. How did someone post at the EXACT SAME TIME AS ME. Whoever you are, you've stolen my blue ribbon for the night. I will make a guess about your identity, and do a follow up investigation. :) (If you're a stranger, then this comment is totally creepy. Apologies.)
